Our Process
Most headlight lenses are made from a hard plastic called Poly carbonate. This is hard, moldable, but susceptible to UV rays of the sun. To protect the plastic, car manufacturers coat the lenses with a hard UV protective coating. However, over time, one or both of the following conditions take place:
Coating Oxidizes -- When the coating oxidizes, it turns yellow and simi-opaque blocking some of the light from the headlamps. This not only reduces visibility at night, but it looks bad.
Delamination / Pitting -- Over time, the manufacturer's coating can start to separate from the plastic. This is called delamination. While this does not always have an adverse effect on light output, it does look bad and it will eventually compromise the coating and allow the lights to yellow. The other issue is pitting which is caused from rocks and sand on the road. This will also lead to failure of the coating.
What Others Are Doing
As a result of this problem, many businesses have sprung up attempting to address this problem. However, not all of them do quality work. The headlight shown in the image below is of a truck that was "repaired". This company actually worked for a car dealership repairing headlights. However, as you can see the quality of the repair leaves much to be desired. There are streaks in the lenses and the coating is not consistent and clear.
In the next image, you will see a repaired headlight from the same vehicle. As you can see there was a HUGE improvement.
What We Do
We use a Patent Pending process to remove the old coating, prepare the headlight and apply/harden the new UV, protectant hard-coat. Unlike the example of the work done by others, our repair is about as close as you can get to the original coating. Our preparation guarantees that in most cases, the lens will look like new. Most customers have said that their lights look better than new. Our process removes minor pitting, scratches, and any old/oxidized/delaminating coating. Then, it is replaced with a crystal-clear hard-coat that protects against road dirt, chemicals and UV light from the sun.
Once the work is done, we provide you with a free sample of our Clear & New™ UV Protectant to keep you lights looking like new for years to come.
We stand behind our work. We absolutely guarantee the quality of our products and the quality of our work.
